My 'mistake' was: since the screenshot needs to be placed between background and device frame, the placeholder is not in the front layer*. Correction: you can actually select and cut and paste the placeholder rectange of any Techsmith template in your own file. I tried several searches online and found ok-enough mockups: combining iphone model template png and adding ' transparent' and ' extra large' as image search filters (and watch out for license options). It would be a lot easier if I had a template that just 'snugs in' / fits with the screenshot dimensions.The given templates (both in SnagIt and Assets store) are not enough because when I take a screenshot on my (corporate) smartphone, the dimensions are different to the outdated/generic template phone that Techsmith offers.Like Billy I'd like to 'mock up' screenshots into current iPhone models as part of instructions (especially when steps are required both on a computer and a phone).
